E8 Storage is a Storage Startup that has been targeted for acquisition by AWS. It was reported by Israel’s Globes for $50 to $60 million. GeekWire reported that E8 Storage has a list of 30 employees on LinkedIn, mostly based in Israel. What is interesting to me is that the https://e8storage.com/ is down, meaning that perhaps the acquisition has been completed.
Who was E8 Storage? They were a scale-out storage vendor using NVMe over Fabric to scale-out with huge performance. Some information about E8 Storage that was provided to me via web by them in 2018:
“E8 Storage is a pioneer in shared NVMe storage for data-intensive, high-performance applications that drive business revenue. E8 Storage’s affordable, reliable and scalable solution is ideally suited for the most demanding low-latency workloads, including real-time analytics, financial and trading applications, genomics and large-scale file systems. Driven by the company’s patented architecture, E8 Storage’s high-performance NVMe over Fabrics certified storage delivers record breaking performance at half the cost of existing storage products. When performance matters, enterprise data centers turn to E8 Storage for unprecedented storage performance, density and scale, without compromising on reliability and availability. Privately held, E8 Storage is based in Santa Clara with R&D in Tel Aviv, and channel partners throughout the US and Europe.”

Wikipedia has a List of mergers and acquisitions by Amazon (AWS), https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_mergers_and_acquisitions_by_Amazon
E8 Storage is being listed as the 99th company acquired by Amazon and the fourth this year. It seems it was proceeded in 2019 by Canvas Technology, Sizmek Ad Server and Bebo. It will be interesting to keep an eye on this to see who will be the next on the list.
